Before spending on another foundation sample I am hoping to avoid another guess about my undertone. Photos from my phone sometimes turn unexpectedly cool after the indoor lights come on. This time I want to take a few pictures in soft daylight without filters. I want to place two neutral fabrics close to my jawline in each photo. Rather than calling the first result final I want to compare images made under nearly identical conditions. A short skin undertone test camera seems helpful because it separates lighting notes from color observations. Only after the comparison will I look at foundation samples without changing the lighting again. I would welcome advice from people who use phone photos about a better neutral reference for this kind of home test? I know a camera cannot replace seeing real skin in changing light, and I am not expecting a perfect answer from one home experiment. My goal is simply to make the next store visit less confusing. Keeping a short record of conditions should also help me recognize when a surprising result is probably caused by lighting rather than my actual coloring.
